Why work with us?
For candidates who have never worked with an agency before, the vetting process can often feel daunting and time-consuming. Here are some of the reasons candidates have shared that they enjoy working with Adventure Nannies and KITH & KIN:
Advocates for legal pay, benefits, and industry standards
We understand that in order to attract professional, well-rounded candidates who take their positions seriously, families need to pay legally and offer standard benefits which include health insurance stipends, paid time off, and other benefits. We work with families to ensure the rate they are offering for the position is in line with the schedule, responsibilities, and caliber of candidate they are seeking, and educate them on the benefits of legal pay and how providing benefits leads to better candidates and more longevity in their roles.

Professional guidance and support
While our primary focus is introducing families and candidates to each other and facilitating their hiring decisions, education is an important component of our role as well. Throughout our process, we will counsel you on resume edits, interview coaching, and how to present yourself as a highly employable, professional, and stand-out candidate! The skills you will pick up throughout our vetting and interview process can be carried forward throughout your career, not just in conjunction with our searches.
Genuine appreciation and care for your long-term goals and priorities
KITH + KIN and Adventure Nannies were both founded by former nannies and teachers, and our staff of 12 has decades of combined experience in nannying and education fields. We have been in your shoes and understand the logistics and complicated boundaries that exist when working in private homes, and we respect family’s desires to find someone who will be an ideal long-term match for their family. We never attempt to push candidates into a role they are not interested in, or introduce you to a family without your permission.

Professional development opportunities and free resources
We know first-hand that continuing education is paramount for candidates wanting to stay current and up-to-date on alternative family philosophies and educational opportunities. Families often tell us that seeing additional professional development on a resume or hearing about it in an interview is a sign that the candidate takes themselves, and their career, seriously. In addition to a robust blog with hundreds of articles designed around career development and practical tips, Adventure Nannies also hosts Summit Sessions, a continuing education group with speakers from a diverse range of backgrounds, including RIE, newborn care specialists, Montessori teachers, conscious anti-racism practitioners, founders of LGBTQ youth camps, and many more. Adventure Nannies also recently launched ‘Adventure Nannies On Air,’ a weekly podcast hosted by co-founders Brandy and Shenandoah that is an irreverent deep dive into the complicated relationships and issues that can often form in nanny-family relationships. We are committed to assisting all candidates in advancing in their knowledge and careers, whether or not we will have the opportunity to place them in their next role.
Focus on equality and fair treatment
We consider following equal employment opportunity laws to be the bare minimum an agency is responsible for. We impress upon families the importance of basing their hiring decisions off of qualifications and skills for their roles and do not work with families who prefer to make hiring decisions based on age, country of origin, sexual preference, gender expression or identity, weight, nationality, family status, or any other protected trait.
