Full time, Live-out Experienced Nanny needed in SoHo, Manhattan   - Ref. #SHJ0710

A loving, dynamic, and busy family of 4 is seeking an experienced and wise full-time, live-out nanny for their two children, 5 and 7, beginning soon. The schedule does require flexibility from time to time to come in earlier, but is typically M-Th 3-11pm and Friday 1-9pm, guaranteed 40 hours per week, even when off duty earlier than planned (job will typically be about 33 hours a week).

The ideal nanny is someone who has a strong ability to connect with bright, really fun, and highly-active children. It is important that the nanny is highly reliable and exercises discretion. Above all, the right fit will be someone who is down to earth, caring, and a great balance of firm and kind, able to be the safe container for a child to move through big emotions. Nanny will be responsible for full care related to children including laundry, organizing and sorting belongings and supplies, planning and preparation of healthy meals, small errands related to the children, transporting to and from school and activities.

About the family: the parents are warm, very friendly, and looking for someone to be a part of the family with open communication. They have had only 2 nannies in 7 years, and their nanny of the past 3 years is now moving on. Both children are active, fun, and inquisitive - one is social and friendly, and knows how to connect well! The other child is game-oriented and loves to play, but has behavioral challenges that vary day to day, and is assisted by a paraprofessional. For this reason, the nanny must be level-headed, genuinely caring, possessing patience to work with a child who has trouble with authority despite being a really loving and fun kiddo! They have a regular housekeeper so there’s not anything required beyond tidying up with the children. Mom and Dad are very busy with their professional jobs, but are around often for pick-ups and are looking for someone who has the right personality and fit for their family dynamic.

All candidates MUST meet these requirements…

-  be physically fit and able to lift up to 35lbs. and climb steps in the home
-  have 3 years of experience of school-aged children
-  minimum 1 year as a nanny
-  have a valid CPR/First Aid certification or obtain one
-  be legally authorized to work in the United States
-  submit to a background check
-  have a valid passport or visa with travel permission
-  have a professional childcare resume and three professional childcare references
-  be a strong swimmer
-  be able to travel, sporadically, and also in spring and summer for up to 2 weeks at a time
-  ability to sleepover if parents are traveling
-  be comfortable with a cat in the home
-  have experience with children with behavioral challenges
-  speak fluent English
-  be mindful of child’s food allergies
-  have a mature, relatable, and uplifting disposition, able to take the reins with confidence, but step back when need be
- encourage independence, organization, and be conversational and engaging
- be cooperative and work together as a team, and give and receive new ideas and approaches
-  have impeccable communication skills, and understand the unique relationship of private care in someone’s home

While not required, special consideration given to those candidates who have a higher education degree and further training in child development, as well as a drivers license.

Base salary is $32-35/hr gross (pre-tax) $66,000-76,000/year, depending on experience and education, opportunities for overtime and travel, paid holidays, sick and vacation time, plus paid contributions to an existing healthcare plan if needed.
