Newborn Care SpecialistA newborn care specialist is often booked 3-6 months before the baby’s due date and will either work overnight or 24-hour shifts (usually 20 hours with a 4-hour break) for anywhere from 2 to 6 months. They are responsible for full care for the newborn alongside with the parents, and work through the night to facilitate healing and rest while developing a schedule with the family to ensure developmental milestones are being met and your infant (and you) are getting ample rest. They have training in sleep conditioning, tongue ties, feeding and reflux, hygiene, breastfeeding, and SIDS prevention.
Formerly referred to by many New Yorkers as ‘baby nurses’, newborn care specialists do not have medical training or degrees and do not replace medical professionals, but they have completed highly specialized training for the very littlest ones. Newborn care specialists typically charge an hourly rate equaling $500-$850 per day depending on the level of experience and qualifications they possess. |
Nanny or MannyA nanny is a professional childcare provider who has worked with private families in full-time, long-term capacities. The nannies our agency works with are engaged, educationally-minded, professional, and child-focused. Nannies are typically responsible for all things child-related, including children’s meal prep and cleaning up after meals, child’s laundry, and general tidying up and organizing in the children’s rooms and with their belongings.
We often work with families who have part-time childcare needs, but are hoping for a professional caregiver to step in the role rather than a fleet of babysitters, to develop their roles into hybrid roles to ensure the position will be sustainable for their new employee. Many nannies are happy to pick up additional responsibilities, such as running errands, grocery shopping, pet care, and calendar management, as long as they are clearly communicated at the beginning of the search. The nannies our agency works with typically charge a starting hourly rate of $28-30/hr equaling to $1200-$1500 per week gross on a 40-50 hours per week schedule based on experience, neighborhood, qualifications, and duties. |
Temporary and Travel ServicesWe are happy to offer travel and temporary searches to families who are going on vacation, heading away for the summer, or need temporary help during a nanny’s paid time off, injury recovery, or maternity leave. Our temporary and travel searches can be anywhere from one week to six months in length!
Temporary nannies typically charge between $25-$35 per hour based on the guaranteed number of hours per day, number of children, and the length of travel. If you are looking for on-call or babysitting assistance, please fill out our family contact form and we would be happy to introduce you to local babysitting services that we know and love! |
Private EducatorMore and more families are turning towards private education, either to create a focused one-on-one learning environment for their children or to pursue alternative educational styles that better match their family’s philosophies and needs. Private educators will either develop a curriculum or supplement a curriculum chosen by the family and curate an educational program based around your children’s desires and needs. Some private educators work in a hybrid role with a focus on providing educationally-focused childcare during the hours not in structured learning, while others work in a sole teacher role. Some examples of alternative educational philosophies families have implemented private educators for in the past include: worldschooling, unschooling / child-led learning, Montessori, and Waldorf. Private educators generally charge $30-$40+ per hour for full-time positions depending on skills, qualifications, and level of education required for the position.
